With the NHL season just around the corner. And players starting to make their way back to training camp in the coming weeks. It is the perfect time to take a look at each team in the Atlantic division and give my thoughts on the outcome of this coming season.
Buffalo Sabres
The Buffalo Sabres are a team with very high hopes this upcoming season. Having one of the youngest rosters in the NHL the Buffalo Sabres are a team to watch as they look to end their 12 year playoff drought this season.
Detroit Red Wings
Near the end of their rebuild, the Red Wings look to start up another dynasty with the many upcoming young stars in the system. When Seider is on your back end and Larkin as your number one center anything is possible for the Detroit Red Wings.
Florida Panthers
Surprising the hockey world with a historical run in the playoffs. The Panthers are the team to watch adding Ekman-Larsson and Rodrigues this offseason the Panthers could be a threat in the east. Although not having Montour and Ekblad at the start of the season could be a massive problem for the Panthers.
Ottawa Senators
Stacked with young talent from top to bottom the Ottawa Senators could give any team a run for their money and surprise many fans. Signing Sanderson to that deal was huge and if they can get half decent goaltending from Korpisalo this season, then they have a chance to make the playoffs.
Montreal Canadiens
In the thick of a rebuild the Canadiens look for big years from their young stars. Caufield had a good year until the injury. If Caufield can stay healthy and the Canadiens can get some good goaltending from Allen and Primeau, then they could surprise many fans.
Tampa Bay Lightning
I’m looking for a strong season from the Lightning this year after having a full offseason. They have been very successful in the past years and I can’t see that stopping. Let the dynasty continue!
Toronto Maple Leafs
Coming off of that first round win the playoffs last year, you would think that they should have more success this year. They added some key pieces in the offseason, but lost many more. Although the leafs aren’t judged on the regular season, I believe that they are going to have a good one this year.
Boston Bruins
A historical season last year only to be ended in heartbreak for Bruins fans. The Bruins are in a weird spot this season losing their top two centers for next season. I can’t see a very good season this year, but this team has surprised me before.
